Commissions

Commissioning art is the process of hiring an artist to create an artwork, based on the client’s request.

If you’re inspired by Daniel R. Mitchell’s work you can commission the artist to create a unique urban landscape that is personal to you. Perhaps a place where you live, or a city or town you’ve been to that brings back fond memories. Whatever you’re thinking, by completing the enquiry form this will enable the artist to establish your requirements before agreeing to proceed.

The artists acceptance of the commission is subject to you (the client) agreeing to the following:

  1. You agree that the artist can freely take his own reference photos of the subject area, as opposed to one provided by the client (unless agreed otherwise).

  2. You agree that the artist can freely paint using colours which he believes best represent the subject (unless agreed otherwise).

These minimum requirements enable full creativity for the artist with no constraints and help in working towards the most successful outcome.

Commission Process

Once your initial enquiry form has been received the artist will review the detail and respond with any queries he may have.

The next stage is to discuss the urban landscape / subject to be painted. This will include discussing reference photos generated by the artist of which one will be agreed.

Once the detail of the commission is agreed a contract will be produced which details all aspects of the commission which have been agreed between the artist and client.

The next stage is payment. A 50% payment is required initially to allow the artist to purchase materials, paint etc. in order to make a start on the piece.

Communication will be as regular as necessary to ensure your commissioned piece is moving in the right direction. Unless of course you’d prefer the ‘big reveal’ upon completion!

Once the painting is finalised and accepted by the client, the remaining 50% of the payment is to be made.

The final stage is simply handing over the painting to its prospective new owner. Any installation or delivery costs will be detailed and agreed within the contract.
